So I figured something out about my lag issues.
The only game that I have ever had lag issues with is COD4.
and thats regardless of weather or not I'm hardwired or wireless.
any help would be great, if you need my specs ask and I will provide you with the info requested.
Thanks!! |

COD4 is really intensive on your computer regardless of how powerful your computer is, it may cause a few studers here and there. However it seems like your problem is bigger than that.
A few things I can recommend to see if it your computer or the actual network being overloaded with too much data.
1. If running COD4, do you get better performance in single player than multiplayer?
2. See if your computer is set up for automatic scans and change the option if need be to only scan when there is nothing going on.
3. Run a registry cleaner/checker to see if you might have some errors (I use Registry Mechanic)
4. Before you play, close out of all other applications that are not necessary to COD (Internet Explorer, any open windows, other games, iTunes...)
5. Let’s see what kind of graphics card and processer you have in the computer. (please post)
Try a few of them and get back to us when you do. Let’s see if that helps at all. |

I have a PNY NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT 1GIG DDR2 video card, Pentium 4 3.20 GHz processor, I believe its only one core, because it does not say duel core or anything like that, but it has 3.20 listed twice.
listed 3 gigs of ram, but thats the odd thing I have 4 1 gig sticks in the computer and it did have it listed as 4 gigs before.
anything else you need to know? |

Well, your hardware seems to be a wee bit under powered. My guess since you have a Pentium 4 processor, you have DDR memory which could cause some lag.
Is your network card (the one being used) an onboard or PCI card? How fast is the card in Mbps (10,100,1000)?
Your Graphics card is also somewhat outdated being that is a 9400 GT. Your card has a lot of ram onboard but the processer in it is not really all that powerful relatively speaking to the monsters that are out there today. |
